1959 GMC Series 100 Stepside 101 Pick-Up
Effortlessly merging work and play into a single vehicle, pick-ups have always been a popular choice in the U.S and for us nothing epitomises the cornerstone of American motoring more than this iconic 1959 GMC Stepside 101 Pick-Up Truck.
With so few of these being imported to the UK, this is a very rare opportunity indeed and although it is not a concours condition vehicle, it presents extremely well in all areas and we feel you’ll be lucky to find a better example at a similar price.
It’s one and only UK owner, Steve Smith specifically sourced this truck as a barn find in Tennessee in 2016. In need of a restoration, Smith bought the truck and sourced the help of Americana Consulting Inc in Las Vegas where it had a full restoration costing in excess of $20,000. During this time, it had a full bare metal respray, it was re-chromed and a brand new Chevrolet 303 V8 engine was installed. Upon completion, Smith had the truck imported to the UK in 2017 to the Littlehampton area and shortly after it arrived it was taken to Alders Autos to have its gearbox upgraded to a 3-speed and to the tune of £2500.
A flick of the ignition switch and the 5.7 V8 rumbles into life, producing an incredible sound that very few cars can achieve. Inside the cabin, a traditional retrimmed 3-seater bench sits behind the body coded dash, brushed ally instrument panel and a half leather half chrome steering wheel. Complete with chrome storks and a retro stereo, the cabin has been tastefully finished and is very hard to fault with regards to condition and build quality.
Since arriving on our shores, the truck’s chrome has sadly suffered from some pitting and a few very minor imperfections can now be found across the bodywork. This can of course be addressed at an additional costs but for now we have decided to offer the truck in its current condition to keep it more affordable.
Supplied with the car is a 1955-1959 Maintenance Manual, a useful GMC truck parts catalogue, all of the correct shipping and registration documents, current V5C, and various bills for works in both the U.S.A and the UK.
Registered as a Historic Vehicle, it is MOT and Tax exempt but as a courtesy service we will offer this with a brand new MOT and oil service. Now ready to be driven and enjoyed. Such is the overall condition of this truck, we will gladly offer the prospective buyer a full inspection in our workshop.
