Our Jaguar Sport XJR-S is a by-product of Jaguar’s joint venture with TWR following their success in Le Mans and European Sports Car Championship where they enjoyed much success. Prior to this car TWR would modify XJS’ until they were brought in-house by Jaguar in 1988 to create a company called Jaguarsport. This 5.3 V12 XJR-S was part of the initial run limited to 326 cars and based on the chassis number and it’s build date it is one of the very first produced after Jaguarsport was created.
This car also features the rare early style badges and the speedline wheels are unbranded whereas later cars had the Jaguarsport logo.
Compared to a standard XJS this is an extremely capable car thanks to MIRA approved body kit which reduces drag by 12.7% and the lift by a massive 88% over the standard car, as well as the black grill, light surrounds, painted wing mirrors and speedline wheels give this car an aggressive and distinctive look. In addition this car features quick ratio steering rack, Bilstein dampers, uprated springs, stiffer anti-roll bar and a number of interior alterations. To keep this powerful car under control it is also fitted with LSD. All Jaguarsport identifying points are present in the car and in the correct XJR-S document pack.
Finished in Signal Red, which at the time was a Jaguarsport only option and was the colour used in all in Jaguarsport and XJR-S advertising campaigns. Across the entire car the paintwork is in excellent condition and it has very few imperfections which is unusual for a Jaguar from this era. The period alloy-wheels all present without damage and is fitted with the correct specification Pirelli tyres that are all in very good condition.
Moving into the interior once again this can only be described as being in excellent condition and is certainly supported by its very low mileage of 36,000 miles. A common fault with Jaguars of this period are headlining but this one presents perfectly well and is free of stains and wear. The dashboard, steering wheels, gear selector, dash buttons and instrumental are Jaguarsport specific items and look fantastic to the eye. All of the controls work correctly as they should.
The general underside of the car is original and presents very well and as you would hope. This includes its underseal which presents as it did when it left the factory. New exhaust rear boxes have just been fitted.
The car comes with a large history file which contains tax discs, invoices, original service book containing 11 stamps with the most recent service carried out at a Jaguar specialist Julian Ferraro in November 2020 - it hasn’t covered very few miles since.
