Vehicle Information
Sold between 1889 and 1994, the 964 variant of the evergreen Porsche 911 was updated by Benjamin Dimson and featured significant styling revisions over previous 911 models, with the most prominent change being the integrated bumpers which became flush with the car for better aerodynamics. A new electric rear spoiler raised at speeds above 50 mph and lowered down flush with the rear engine lid at lower speeds to give this model the classic 911 look.
At launch the 964 was considered to be an 85% new car compared to its predecessor, the Carrera 3.2 and was available as a coupe, Targa or Cabriolet.
Powered by a new naturally aspirated engine called the M64 with a displacement of 3.6 litres, the 964 carried on the tradition of having a flat 6 air cooled engine, in this guise producing 250bhp. This fantastic sounding powerplant gave the 964 excellent performance, with a 0 – 60 time of just 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 160mph.
Porsche also took the opportunity to substantially updated the suspension, replacing the dated torsion bar design with coil springs and shock absorbers, whilst ABS and power steering was fitted to the 911 for the first time.
Registered on the 1stAugust 1990 and supplied by Lancaster Porsche of Colchester, our 964 is finished in special order colour of Baltic blue metallic with a dark blue soft top whilst the interior is trimmed in cream leather which contrasts perfectly with the exterior.
A low ownership car, having had just 4 owners from new with the last owner taking custodianship back in 2010. He has clearly cherished the car having covered just over 13,000 miles, and perhaps most tellingly there is a 964 owners club sticker in the window hinting at genuine enthusiast ownership.
Condition wise this 911 is lovely order with lustrous paintwork and a newly fitted soft top whilst the interior is exceptionally nice with a new headlining and the desirable electric sports seats.
A good service history is essential when buying a 911 and thankfully this car will not disappoint.
