Vehicle Description

At Fairmont, we have a strong passion for the Targa model Porsches and in particular this generation of 911. The opportunity to buy this car presented itself and we couldn’t wait to get it back to base. Coming to us from a 20-year long ownership, we were informed that it has been driven mainly on special occasions and when possible, to keep the motor running.

As with most older classics, the more recent years have limited maintenance, as they cover very few miles and owners usually tend not to have regular expensive servicing. The same can be said for this vehicle. However, it was recommissioned, and a top end strip-down and engine rebuild was carried out in 2017, at a £7,500 cost by the well-known Porsche specialist, Steve Prouse. We know that this car has always been kept in a dry indoor environment and drives well. The owner said that they did do their own oil and filter replacements.

In the original service book, it confirms the supplying dealer as AFN Porsche and it has an incredible 15 dealer services. There's plenty of paperwork with the car supporting the past works, including maintenance and servicing not shown in the service book. The service book and handbooks are complete with the original wallet.

The car presents well and retains much originality, though the owner tells us that some paintwork improvements have been carried out over the years. It’s pleasing to know that the Targa roof has been recovered with a vinyl kit from the US, which appears in good order. Many of the rubbers have also been replaced, which is welcomed as Targa's can leak, but this roof appears to be watertight under testing and no staining visible – a big tick here. Door rubbers also appear to have been replaced as they're in good order.

A Targa 3.2 Carrera with cool Fuchs wheels, whale tail spoiler, excellent condition cloth and black leather sports seats, the G50 gearbox, engine rebuild and the Targa roof firmly sorted, is an altogether great piece of car ownership. We cannot think of anything cooler to be seen in, whilst being an amazing entertaining drive also.

The MOT is valid until September 2026, and the car will be supplied with an oil and filter service together with a 6-month Autoguard national warranty. Next year this car celebrates it's 40th birthday, therefore it becomes tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt, making ownership simpler and cheaper. Finance can be arranged upon request.
