Looking back at the 1980s, there are only a handful of motors that have come to epitomise the era. The E30 is one of those cars. Worshiped for iconic styling and all-round great performance, the E30s have truly stood the test of time, increasing in desirability year on year.
This 1985 BMW 318i (E30) Convertible by Baur, is a rare car to find today especially in this fantastic condition.
Known as the Top Cabriolet 2 (TC2), this E30 shape convertible by Baur followed on from the success of the E21 Top Cabriolet by Baur. Whilst many DIY Baur style conversions have appeared over the years, finding a genuine TC2 is a rarity as they were an expensive option from BMW.
This one was officially converted by Karosserie Baur before it was delivered to its first customer in 1985. It comes with the original instruction booklet showing owners how operate the Cabriolet soft-top, clearly a novelty feature back then which needed a separate detailed book.
We believe the low mileage of to be true, supported by its paperwork and from our inspections it is clear that it has been well maintained. The paperwork shows recent work for suspension parts including shock absorbers, sports springs and exhaust system, and previous MOT test certificates.
This convertible presents extremely well in Polaris Silver with a dark blue roof and a pinstripe. Both the paintwork and interior trim appear to be in wonderful condition. The seats show little evidence of use and the carpets are in good order. The dashboard shows no cracking or marks and the roof mechanism works well. Even the original radio cassette player works!
Overall this delightful convertible is ideal for both summer motoring or long term investment.
